The Walter Burley Griffin Society has put out a brief summary of their views on the proposed memorials, and a memorandum consolidating various verbal and written representations made up to 2 November 2010.
This document shows the approvals process for memorials in Washington DC with a recent example and the comparative process being followed by the Memorial(s) Development Committee. Opinion given by Sir Richard and Lady Kingsland. Sir Richard Kingsland, AO, CBE, DFC, is a former Secretary of the Department of the Interior, and of the Department of Veterans Affairs. During World War II he was a pilot in the RAAF, and fought in both Europe and the Pacific. Lady Kingsland was a member of the Women's Auxiliary Australian Air Force.
Comments by Peter Gration. General Peter Gration AC, OBE served as Chief of the General Staff of the army 1984-7 and Chief of the Defence Force 1987-93. He saw active service during the Malayan Emergency, and completed a tour of duty during the Vietnam War between 1969 and 1970. He is chairman of the Council of the Australian War Memorial.
